53,114 Abortion Cases:”Sex Education” should be made a Core Subject from Primary, JHS, SHS & Varsity- Counsellor
Figures from the Ghana Health Service (GHS) reveal that 53,114 abortions were supervised in public health facilities in the country in 2017.Unsafe abortion also recorded 13,918 in the same period.
Counsellor Daniel Fenyi has blamed these overwhelming figures on the lack of sex education and the decline of moral standards in the country.
Mr. Daniel Fenyi has suggested that just like Maths, English, and Science, “Sex Education” should be introduced as a core subject that would be studied right from primary school to the university.
The respected youth counsellor added that family planning, use of contraceptives and total abstinence from sex should be encouraged among the youths.
